Tawrik Djibril regrets not reducing his age
Flashback to the year 2008 when Hearts of Oak was locked in a transfer battle with Spanish giants Tawrick Djibril. The Phobians were demanding $500,000 whilst Atletico Madrid were not ready to pay that huge some of money for a raw talent.
The boy had all the potential to reach the upper echelon of world football.
In 2010, Djibril left Hearts of Oak after three years with the Accra-based club. As an 18-year-old forward, the expectations on the youngster were huge back home before he left for Turkey in 2011.
Bucaspor in 2012 prevented Djobril from signing for Trabzonspor, forcing FIFA to intervene. Injuries also played a key role leading to the decline of Tawrik Djibril.
Djibril is still playing and has regretted not reducing his age. He is now 34, and everything points to the fact that he has not reduced his age.
In an interview with Gil Media, Djibil said, “I’m still playing and I want to continue for the next two to three years. Just that my age (34). I didn’t work on the age at the beginning. If I mention my age and you see me playing, you’d say, ‘No, no, I should be 22. I didn’t get the support or management that could manage my things well,”.
The talented left-footed winger is still playing actively and looks like he is 26.
