Stade de France is the venue for the Track and Field events in the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Its seating capacity of 80,698 makes it one of the venues across Europe that houses many fans.

Ever since the track and field events started, the atmosphere in the venue has been electric. Fans are always seen cheering, jeering, dancing and singing making the Stade de France a noisy place.

According to Ghanaian sprinter Joe Paul Amoah, the noise at the Stade de France affected their communication on the track, which impacted their baton changes.

“The stadium was loud, obviously because of France,” Paul said.

Ghana was in Heat 2 alongside the host France, China, Canada, Jamaica, Germany, Brazil and Liberia.

Stade de France has always welcome its nationalities with huge cheers and it was not surprise to see the stadium in a noisy mood when the French quartert were doing well.

“Instead of using it as an advantage, I think it broke us in a way. We struggled to hear the calls, but we did our best in the circumstances,” Amoah told Joy Sports.

“We hope to do better next time. We weren’t nervous, it’s just the noise that prevented us from communicating effectively.

“Going into the race, we were all calm and ready to compete but unfortunately we got disqualified.

China, France and Canada qualified from Heat 2 while Ghana finished bottom after being disqualified.
