At Fratton Park in Portsmouth on Tuesday night, Frank Lampard’s Coventry City secured a crucial 2-1 win over Portsmouth to move four points clear of second-place Middlesbrough in the English Championship.

In-form Ghanaian striker Brandon Thomas-Asante, who has been scoring all forms of goals in the current campaign, put the visitors ahead in the 30th minute with strike partner Ellis Simms providing the assist.

Coventry went to the break leading 1-0 after preventing Portsmouth from scoring.

In the second half, Thomas-Asante scored again to double Coventry’s lead with Ellis Simms assisting once again.

It was a done deal for the travellers who had been winning games with solidity at the back.

Krkic’s 96th-minute strike was a mere consolation for Portsmouth, with Coventry running away with all three points.

Thomas-Asante has scored eight goals in eight matches, and he is playing his best football at the moment.
