Thomas Tuchel has signed a new two-year deal to remain as England manager, keeping him in charge through to Euro 2028.

The Football Association confirmed the extension, which ensures continuity ahead of this summer’s World Cup and removes speculation about his future.

Tuchel, who took over in January 2025, has guided England to an unbeaten qualification campaign, winning all eight matches without conceding a goal.

His success and rapport with players convinced the FA to secure his services beyond the tournament.

Tuchel expressed his delight at the extension, describing the England job as a “dream role” and emphasising his pride in leading the Three Lions.

He highlighted the strong support he has received from the FA, his coaching staff, and fans, noting that the opportunity to lead England into a home European Championship was too special to turn down.

Euro 2028 will be co-hosted by England, Scotland, Wales, and the Republic of Ireland, with Wembley Stadium staging the semi-finals and final.

The deal also represents a significant blow to clubs that had been linked with Tuchel, particularly Manchester United, which had reportedly considered him as a future manager.

By committing to England, Tuchel has ended speculation about a return to club football in the near term.

His coaching team, including Anthony Barry and Henrique Hilário, have also signed extensions, ensuring stability in the backroom staff as England prepares for major tournaments.

Tuchel’s tenure has already brought optimism, with England climbing into the world’s top five rankings and showing defensive resilience.

The FA’s decision reflects confidence in his ability to build on that momentum and deliver success at both the World Cup and Euro 2028.

For Tuchel, the contract secures not only his role but also the chance to etch his name into England’s footballing history by leading the team into a landmark home tournament.
