Les Olympiens announced that they have signed Timothy Weah, 25, from Juventus. The deal starts with a loan for €1 million and includes a mandatory purchase fee of €14 million, plus bonuses that could reach €3 million.

During a press conference on Thursday, Weah shared that he spoke with his father, George Weah, a former striker for OM and PSG, before deciding to join the club.

“I definitely talked to him before coming here – he spent six months here and loved the city.

“There’s pressure in this role, but pressure exists in all areas of life; I can handle it.”

When he arrived at Marseille Provence airport, around 300 OM fans warmly welcomed Weah. He then underwent a medical examination and signed his contract yesterday.

“There was so much emotion; I’ve never been greeted like that by a club before – it makes you want to give your all for them.

“I’ve faced injuries and challenges in the past, but hearing the supporters cheer my name when I got here filled me with happiness.”

Weah is returning to Ligue 1, where he has spent most of his career playing for Paris Saint-Germain and LOSC Lille.

Roberto De Zerbi plans to utilise Weah as either a wingback or as a backup for Greenwood on the right side of the Olympian offence.

George Oppong Weah, who was once the president of Liberia, is the only African to have won the prestigious Ballon d’Or Award.
