Tottenham Hotspur have officially parted ways with head coach Thomas Frank after just eight months in charge.

The decision came in the aftermath of a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle United, which left Spurs languishing in 16th place in the Premier League table, only five points clear of the relegation zone.

The club confirmed the move in a statement, noting that while Frank was given time and support to build for the future, results and performances ultimately forced the board’s hand.

Frank’s tenure at Tottenham was marked by inconsistency. While he managed to secure Champions League progression by guiding Spurs to the last 16 in Europe, his domestic record was poor.

In 26 league matches, Spurs managed just seven wins, alongside eight draws and 11 defeats. The team endured an eight-game winless streak, their longest since 2008, and supporters voiced their frustration with chants calling for his dismissal during recent matches.

The sacking highlights Tottenham’s ongoing managerial instability, with Frank becoming the sixth permanent manager in seven years.

His appointment in June 2025 was seen as a bold move, replacing Ange Postecoglou, but the gamble failed to pay off.

The club’s hierarchy reportedly held urgent talks after the Newcastle defeat, concluding that a change was necessary to salvage the season.

The decision also reflects mounting pressure from fans, who had begun calling for the return of former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Attention now turns to who will take over at Spurs. Several names have already been linked, including Ernesto Valverde, whose contract with Athletic Club expires this summer.

The new appointment will be tasked with stabilising the team and steering them away from relegation danger, while also preparing for a crucial North London derby against Arsenal later this month.

Tottenham’s next managerial choice will be pivotal in determining whether the club can restore stability and ambition after yet another turbulent chapter.
