Swedish-born Ghanaian defender Leon Hien has signed for Swedish side Degerfors IF.

Newly promoted Allsvenskan side Degerfors IF confirmed the signing of the 23-year-old centre-back from Norwegian club Odds BK on a two-year deal ahead of the 2025 Swedish season.

Born to a Swedish mother and Ghanaian father of Burkina Faso origin. Leon is a younger brother of Sweden and Atalanta defender Isaac Hien.

Degerfors official statement on the deal

”Degerfors IF signs 23-year-old centre-back Leon Hien from Norwegian club Odds BK. The club and Leon have agreed on a contract that runs until 2027.”

Assistant Sporting Director Sean Sabetkar’s comments

”Leon is a player that we have followed for a long time and he is an explosive player with physical attributes that we see high potential in. Leon was retrained from striker to defender at a late age, which we can also see in the offensive game. A nice addition to us in Degerfors and we are happy to have Leon with us.”

Newly promoted side Degerfors IF will aim to retain their status in the Swedish Allsvenskan in the upcoming season.
