A fast-rising community-based activist with global impact in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States has been found dead, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed.

Law enforcement has yet to officially comment on the death, but the Ghanaian was found dead in his apartment on the West side of Cleveland, Ohio, earlier this morning.

Authorities are said to be investigating the circumstances of his death, with details being very sketchy as MyNewsGh.com pursues leads on the matter.

Kwame Botchway was reportedly planning to visit his mother in Ghana in the next few weeks and help his younger brother join him in the US before his untimely death.

Tributes have been pouring in from Ghana and across the world for the talented Kwame Botchway.

The Cleveland National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in Cleveland, where the Ghanaian worked, says they mourn the loss of “The Cleveland Optimist,” who they say was a former member of their Executive Board.

“A passionate advocate for social justice and economic development, Kwame’s work with Cleveland Neighborhood Progress and Citadel Impact Consulting left a lasting impact on our community. His commitment to uplifting Black and Brown families and elevating minority contractors will be remembered. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and all who were touched by his life,” their statement said.
