2nd February 2025 is a day the Ghanaian football fraternity will never forget because Kotoko’s visit to Nsoatreman in week 19 of the Ghana Premier League ended in tragedy.

The biggest Ghana Premier League hyper, Francis Yaw Frimpong, a.k.a Pooley, was cruelly murdered by a yet-to-be-identified criminal who rumours say has fled to Senegal via Ivory Coast.

Nsoatreman has since then been on everyone’s lips because of Pooley’s murder, and many people have developed a hatred for them.

Skipper for the side, Daniel Afadzwu, has apologised to Asante Kotoko and Ghanaians for what happened at the Nana Konamansah II Park in Nsoatre.

“We apologize and ask Kotoko for forgiveness,” Afadzwu said.

“We were all heartbroken on the day of the tragedy.

“Our sole aim as footballers was to amuse our devoted fans rather than to learn of the death of one of them.

I will take this opportunity to apologize to the entire football fraternity, particularly Asante Kotoko and Pooley’s family; whatever the circumstances, it occurred on our home turf, making us responsible.

“We have sinned, and we would like them to forgive us so that we can maintain the wonderful friendship that we had some time ago.

“Football brings unity, not separation, and that will not help. I will stand in on behalf of all Nsoatreman FC players and the technical team, apologize to Kotoko, and ask him to pardon us,” Daniel. Afadzwu concluded.

Nsoatreman has officially written to the Ghana Football Association fɔfor their withdrawal from the league due to a lack of proper security for them.
