Is dumsor back? How stable has the electricity been in your community? These are questions that can be answered individually.
Ghanaians have been complaining bitterly since the beginning of the year about the unstable conditions of the electricity, with many boldly declaring that dumsor is back.
On Citi Eyewitness News, the spokesperson and Head of Communications for the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition quashed all the speculations about the recent state of electricity across Ghana.
“As a government, we have not been shedding load over the past 10 to 11 months. Our generation capacity has been enhanced. What we are doing as a government is that even though we took over a deficit of 700 megawatts in December 2024, that has been overturned. We’ve managed to ensure that our generation capacity is intact,” Richmond Rockson stated.
He continued, “We’ve recognised that there are some issues over the last few days, and those issues are area-specific, and so as a ministry, we’ve taken notice that if you look at an area like Achimota, they’ve had some issues. Dodowa has had some issues. You look at parts of Akweteyman, Tesano, in the last couple of days and let me add Adenta to it. The good news is that these challenges have largely been resolved in some of these areas, and so we expect that the residents there will have a stable power supply”.
It is not only in the Greater Accra Region that is facing problems regarding continuous power supply, but also in the other parts of Ghana, especially the Ashanti Region.
The region has been experiencing severe darkness, where nearly half could go dark in the night.
