Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has resumed his nationwide campaign for the position of National Chairman with a strategic visit to the Eastern Region, describing the engagement as both humbling and critical to rebuilding the party’s grassroots strength.
The visit forms part of a broader effort to reconnect with party faithful across the country and present a renewed vision aimed at restoring confidence within the rank and file of the NPP ahead of the 2028 general elections.
He noted that after attending to other pressing responsibilities, it became imperative to re-engage directly with grassroots supporters—whom he described as the backbone of the party—to share his leadership vision and outline how his stewardship as National Chairman could reposition the NPP for victory.
“The Eastern Region holds a special place in the story of our party,” he stated, highlighting the region’s historical contribution to the NPP’s growth and its role in producing national leadership and driving Ghana’s socio-economic development.
Chairman Wontumi emphasized that his ambition to lead the party is closely tied to empowering such regions, which he said have consistently carried the burden of the party’s electoral successes and must now be central to its resurgence.
During the visit, he expressed deep appreciation for the reception he received from regional executives, constituency leaders, and party members, describing their show of unity and enthusiasm as a strong indication of renewed hope within the party.
He particularly commended Jeff Konadu Addo, Eastern Regional Chairman of the NPP, for what he described as exemplary leadership and organizational strength, noting that the warm reception and coordinated support demonstrated during the visit reflected a deep commitment to party unity and growth.
Chairman Wontumi acknowledged the challenges currently facing the party but maintained that the NPP’s future remains bright if members are willing to unite, reflect on past shortcomings, and embrace a disciplined and inclusive approach moving forward.

“We have stumbled, but we are not defeated,” he stated, urging party faithful to remain committed to rebuilding efforts. “Our best days are ahead if we work together with unity of purpose and clarity of vision.”
He reiterated his readiness to lead the charge in reorganizing the party, strengthening its structures, and mobilizing support nationwide to secure victory in the 2028 elections.
