Sudan’s story in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers is very extraordinary as the Falcons of Jediane surprisingly sit on top of Group B.
The Group contains Senegal and DR Congo who many fancies as the favourites but Sudan has proven that it will give these two powerhouses a tough time.
On Tuesday afternoon against South Sudan in matchday four of the World Cup qualifiers, James Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan won comfortably by 3-0.
The Falcons of Jediane opened the scoring on a stroke of halftime through Al Hilal Omdurman’s midfielder Walieldin Khidir. Sudan ended the first half so excited knowing that they had gotten the all-important first goal.
They finished their opponents with six minutes into the second half with Yasir Mozamil Mohamed doubling the lead. Mohamed Abdel Rahman rounded off an impressive afternoon for Akwasi Appiah and his Sudan by scoring the third in the 78th minute.
Sudan has 10 points with second placed Senegal having 8. The two teams clash when the qualifiers resume in March 2025 with Sudan having a home advantage.
