Mali midfielder Yves Bissouma has been excluded from the Mali squad set to face Ghana and Madagascar in the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers due to an injury.

The ex-Brighton star’s absence is a significant blow to the team as they prepare for these crucial matches.

Despite Bissouma’s unavailability, Mali coach Eric Chille has recalled several key players who missed the March international friendlies.

Returning to the squad are Amadou Dante, Mohamed Camara, Aliou Dieng, Boubacar Diarra, Adama Traore, and Sekou Koita.

Additionally, Chille has handed debut call-ups to Mamadou Camara and Salim Diakite, injecting fresh talent into the team.

Mali will begin their preparations in Bamako this week, gearing up to host the Black Stars of Ghana on June 6 for the third round of World Cup qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s coach Otto Addo has arrived in Accra and will open the Black Stars’ training camp at the Legon Sports Stadium on Thursday.

The former Borussia Dortmund player is expected to announce his squad for the matches against Mali and the Central African Republic on Tuesday.

The upcoming fixtures are critical for both teams as they aim to secure their positions in the World Cup qualifiers.
