Wednesday in the semifinals of the 200m was a great moment for African athletes with four qualifying for the finals.
In the Heat 1, USA’s Kenneth Bednarek and Domincan Republic’s Alexander Ogando finished first and second to qualify.
South Africa’s Shaun Maswanganyi Tarsis Gracious Orogot of Uganda finished fourth and 7th respectively to miss out on the final list.
Heat 2 saw Botswana’s talented Letsile Tebogo (19.96) win ahead of the super favorite Noah Lyles (20.08). Makanakaishe Charamba of Zimbabwe finished third running 20.31 to finish among the top two best third place.
American Erriyon Knighton won Heat 3 with Liberia’s Joseph Fahnbulleh finishing second. Zimbabwe’s Tapiwanashe Makarawu finished third to secure a place in the final 8.
