The qualifiers for the 15th edition of the WAFCON ended in December 2023, but the main competition is yet to be played.

On Friday, the draw was held at the Mohammed VI Technical Centre in Sale with Ghana’s queen of sports, Juliet Ibrahim the conductor.

12 teams will compete in the tournament, with the host and runner-up of the last edition, Morocco, grouped in A alongside Zambia, Senegal and DR Congo.

Group B contains 9-time winners Nigeria alongside North African duo Algeria and Tunisia. Botswana completes the group.

Nora Huptle’s Black Queens are placed in Group C with the defending champions South Africa, the experienced Mali, and minnows Tanzania.

The tournament will be played from 5th to 26th July with Morocco set to be the first country to host the competition back-to-back.
