A defeat for Ghana in Bamako on Thursday night will be disastrous for Otto Addo and his Ghana Black Stars as they are three points behind the leaders Comoros who has won 6 points from the two games played.

Ghana is winless in all their games played in 2024 and it makes the trip a very difficult one. In the 2023 AFCON, Ghana lost one and drew two.

In the first FIFA International break in 2024, Ghana was beaten 2-1 by Nigeria and drew 2-2 against Uganda.

It has been a very difficult 2024 for Black Stars and defeat in Bamako will put Otto Addo and the team under immense pressure for the rest of the qualifiers.

Veteran Andre Ayew was not called for the qualifiers as Arsenal midfielder Thomas Parytey is expected to lead the team in Mali. Westham United forward Mohammed Kudus is expected to continue his impressive form on Friday.

Mali on the other hand defeated Nigeria and Mauritania both 2-0 in the first international break after the AFCON.

It has been a good year so far for Eric Chelle’s Mali who have become one of the difficult teams to break down on the continent.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Yves Bissouma and Real Betis’ Hamari Traore are the biggest miss for the Eagles against Ghana on Friday night.

A huge contest is expected in Bamako with Mali slightly ahead of Ghana due to home advantage.
