At the Grande Stade Al-Hociema in Morocco, Ghana dismantled Madagascar by 3-0 to put one leg in the 2026 USA-CANADA-MEXICO FIFA World Cup.

Ghana was disastrous in 2024 but has been able to turn things around in 2025. In two games in 2025, the Black Stars have scored 8 good goals and conceded none.

Otto Addo and his coaching staff were extremely ready for March’s international break. They had let Ghanaians down in 2024 and were determined to right the wrongs of missing out in Morocco in 2025.

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey put Ghana in front after beautifully heading in skipper Jordan Ayew’s free kick. The Leicester City forward’s pinpoint accurate free kick found Partey, and he did justice to it. Ghana went to the break, leading Madagascar by one goal.

Jordan Ayew assisted Partey once again in the 54th minute. The Arsenal midfielder doubled Ghana’s lead to put the game beyond Madagascar.

Mohammed Kudus scored Ghana’s third from Ayew’s assist in the 59th minute. It was a hattrick of assists for the skipper Jordan Ayew. The son of the legendary Abedi Ayew Pele has been so instrumental in Ghana’s progress in the last 3 years.

Ghana is now five points ahead of second-placed Madagascar, with the Black Stars having a 90% chance to qualify for the next World Cup.

In the other game of the group, Mali disappointedly drew goalless against the Central African Republic in Morocco. The rest of Mali’s games could likely be dead rubbers because they now trail Ghana by 6 points.
