23-year-old man arrested for killing and allegedly drinking blood of elderly man

A 23-year-old boy has been arrested for killing and allegedly drinking the blood of an elderly man at Kansaworodo, a suburb of Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region.

According to eyewitnesses, the young boy, identified as Nana Kwame, stabbed the deceased, 69-year-old Francis Quarm, with a pair of scissors and sucked the blood oozing out as he shouted ‘I need blood’.

The eyewitnesses, a couple who are tenants in the deceased’s house, said they couldn’t overpower the aggressive suspect and had to call for help to tame him.

Nana Kwame is said to have pounded her mother a day before he carried out the murder.

The injured mother said her son, who had promised to end their poverty, left home and returned after a long time, acting strangely, only to assault her over a mobile phone and commit the murder.

Nana Kwame is reported to be mentally deranged and has since been arrested.
