In a show of grassroots political mobilisation, a coalition of more over 490 youth organizers from across Ghana has formally declared its unwavering support for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the 2028 presidential election.

The group has also pledged to collectively finance and collect his nomination forms on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, as a symbolic gesture of loyalty and commitment to his political vision.

The announcement followed a strategic meeting held on July 29, 2025, which brought together both substantive and deputy youth organizers from all 16 regions.

The meeting served as a platform for the group to reaffirm its confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership qualities, track record in governance, and vision for the socio-economic transformation.

In a statement released on Monday, August 11, 2025, the coalition praised Dr. Bawumia for what they described as “unmatched commitment to national development,” citing his achievements in digital transformation, economic reform, and youth empowerment.

According to the group, these milestones position him as the ideal leader to “steer Ghana beyond 2028.”

The youth organizers outlined their intention to energize the party’s youth base nationwide, ensuring a vibrant grassroots presence in preparation for the next electoral cycle.

“Our pledge today is not just a political endorsement; it is a solemn commitment to securing a better future for the next generation,” the statement read.

The coalition also appealed to Ghanaians, particularly the youth, to rally behind Dr. Bawumia, highlighting his focus on economic resilience, job creation, and inclusive growth.

They emphasised that their endorsement comes with the blessings of regional youth organizers and the backing of a majority of polling station youth leaders.

Dr. Bawumia, who assumed the Vice Presidency in 2017, has been credited with spearheading the landmark digitalisation agenda, introducing systems such as the Ghana Card integration, mobile money interoperability, and digital property addressing as well as gold for oil and gold reserve.

His economic policy interventions, particularly in the areas of financial inclusion and public sector efficiency, have been central talking points in political discourse.

The signatories to the statement included youth representatives from every region, spanning constituencies from Wa Central in the Upper West to Takoradi in the Western Region, and from Salaga in the Savannah Region to Mfantseman in the Central Region.

They pledged to “protect and project” Dr. Bawumia’s presidential bid through grassroots mobilisation and active engagement in political campaigns leading up to 2028.
