Legon Cities have been in immense trouble thorough the 2024-25 season. The Royals as affectionately known have enjoyed a life of slaves in the top flight after severe financial struggles.
Rumours say that the club owe their players and staff for six months. Since the commencement of the season, employees at the club have not received a penny from the authorities leading to the club struggling on the field of play.
The Royals are deeply rooted at the bottom of the GPL table having won just 11 points from a possible 48. The club has scored 10 goals and conceded 25 with just three wins secured. 11 defeats have been recorded by the club in the league.
Legon Cities have lost their last 5 matches in the league and their magical manager Paa Kwesi Fabian has also left. Everything points to the fact that the club is in a huge mess and it is down to lack of dough. The club has been through a difficult moment with the only good moment of the season being the shocking 2-1 win over Asante Kotoko.
The authorities of the club have decided to turn the club into an academy instead of running it to compete in the Ghanaian league.
The news is another indication that Ghanaian football has been so horrible recently as clubs have found it extremely difficult to survive financially. King Faisal, Kotoku Royals, and Real Tamale United have all faced the same financial issues in recent seasons forcing them to face relegation in an embarrassing manner.
Legon Cities was predicted to be in this mess after they decided to splash the cash on former Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan. They wanted the entire Ghana to hear about them so strategized to bring popular musical artists like Shatta Wale and Wendy Shay to their games to perform around 2021 by paying them huge sums of money.
Legon Cities is set to be relegated!
