Aston Villa’s blistering second half helped them thrash Belgian side Club Brugge 3-0 at the Villa Park. The English side struggled to open up the visitors until Leon Bailey and in-form marco Asensio were introduced in the second half against the 10 men Bruge. A brace from Asensio and a goal from Maatsen secured an emphatic 3-0 win for Aston Villa to book a quarter-finals berth.

Atletico Madrid via english midfielder Connor Gallagher took a 30 second lead at home to stun the defending champions. Vinicius in the second half missed a crucial penalty to restore parity for Madrid. Atletico ended the 90 minutes with a 1-0 win. In the extra time, none was able to find the back of the net sending the game to penalties. Real Madrid eventually won 4-2 to set up a clash against Arsenal.

Atsenal drew 2-2 against Dutch side PSV Eindhoven. Zinchenko and Rice scored for Arsenal as Perisic and Driouech also scored for the Eindhoven-based club.

Dortmund came from behind in the early kick off to beat LOSC Lille in France. Canadian striker Jonathan David put Lille ahead with only 5 minutes played. Emre Can and Maximillian Beier in the 54th and 65th minutes respectively scored and turn things around for the last season’s runner up to set up a clash against FC Barcelona.
