With the right support, I believe Karim Zito can deliver for Kotoko- Opoku Nti

Abdul Karim-Zito’s Kotoko reign got off to a great start after a 1-0 win over Aduana Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in week 30 of the Ghana Premier League. Kwame Poku’s brilliant strike made the difference for the Porcupine Warriors, who remain fourth on the log but are optimistic of winning the title.

Zito’s debut was fantastic after his side played very well compared to their last three games, in which they lost twice and drew the other.

Club legend Opoku Nti was full of praise and optimism for Zito’s presence in an interview with Akoma FM.

“Zito has evolved into a very experienced coach. He fights for results and reads games very well. With the right support, I believe he can deliver success for Kotoko.”

The veteran tactician last season proved that with the right support, he can do the unthinkable, as he did with Dreams FC when he won the FA Cup two seasons ago and took the club to the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup.

“Today’s performance shows he is a real game-changer. I hope it’s not just a one-off. My prayer is that Kotoko can go all the way and win the league under Zito,” Opoku Nti added.

“It’s as if God is signalling to Kotoko that all is not lost. Seeing the results, the way Kotoko played today, and the fact that teams ahead of them are dropping points, I truly believe Kotoko can win the league.”

Looking at Kotoko’s position on the log and the number of points difference between them and the top, all is not lost mathematically, but it will take a complete collapse from Gold Stars, who are 6 points ahead of the Porcupine Warriors, before they can think of leapfrogging them.

Asante Kotoko in Week 30 will travel to Accra to face Hearts of Oak, and Bibiani Gold Stars at their favourite Dun’s Park, will welcome the struggling Karela United.
