Fabio Gama looked so different among the Kotoko squad because of his commitment, willingness, respect, discipline and love for the Porcupine Warriors family.

The flamboyant playmaker signed for Kotoko in October 2022 from Swedish side Jönköping as a free agent. He was an instant hit by helping Prosper Ogum’s side win their 25th league title for the club in the 2021-22 season, scoring five goals.

In an interview with GhanaSportsPage.com, the 32-year-old Brazilian former playmaker shared his experience in the Super Clash, where he played the entire 90 minutes in Kotoko’s 1-0 win over Hearts of Oak in week 24. Frank Etouga’s penalty settled the game.

“Rivalry makes this derby so special,” Gama said. The rivalry between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak is one of the fiercest rivalries on the African continent, as bragging rights are what the fans are always after.

Gama continued, “Yeah, they have a good team and can win that game. They have to play their football and fight hard.”

Fabio Gama urged Asante Kotoko to stick to their style, and they can beat Hearts of Oak in Accra. The left-footed playmaker now plays in the Indonesian second tier for PSMS Medan.

Asante Kotoko will travel to Hearts of Oak on Sunday in week 30 of the Ghana Premier League. The Porcupine Warriors are optimistic they can win the league even though they sit 4th on the table with 6 points behind Bibiani Gold Stars.

Hearts of Oak, on the other hand, sits in 6th place and is five points behind Asante Kotoko. Phobia’s motivation is to at least draw to spoil Kotoko’s slim hope for fighting for the draw.
