Week 30 of the Ghana Premier League will be headlined by the Super Clash between Accra Hearts of Oak against Asante Kotoko. The two most glorious clubs have lost their mojo in recent years, but the Super Clash still remains the humongous fixture on the calendar.

Fabulous’s trip to the capital to face their rivals is a make-or-break fixture for the Kumasi-based club. Asante Kotoko is fourth on the log, having failed to challenge Gold Stars for the top slot. They are now behind Nations FC and Heart of Lions, who occupy third and fourth places, respectively.

Asante Kotoko has had the upper hand over its rivals in recent games after securing three straight wins. Phobia last beat Asante Kotoko in the 2022-23 season in round 20 of the GPL via Caleb Amankwaah’s 57th-minute strike.

The fixture on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium is so important to the fans of Phobia as they have every opportunity to end their rivals’ dream of challenging for the league.

Aboubakar Ouattara’s side is sixth on the table and will be just two points behind Asante Kotoko if they can record a win. Hearts of Oka’s inconsistencies are unbelievable, considering that they always find it difficult to record successive wins. The visit of Kotoko is a crucial one for head coach Aboubakar Ouattara because he is under pressure and needs to do all that he can to win the hearts of the fans.

Abdul-Karim Zito, in his debut as the head coach of the Porcupine Warriors, recorded a slim 1-0 win over Aduana Stars, which helped them remain in contention for the title. He is optimistic that his side can triumph in Accra.

The game is expected to be contested fiercely by both teams as bragging rights and almost everything is at stake.
