Basake Holy Stars were leading by a lone goal after putting them ahead via the spot kick in the 32nd minute. Referee Misbaw awarded another penalty to Holy Stars in the first, forcing Nations FC to abandon the game due to poor officiating.

Both teams needed the three points because Nations FC were on top of the table with only three points ahead of second-placed Bibiani Gold Stars. Holy Stars needed the three points to seal their slot for next season. These made the clash an intense one. The Ghanaian media had an interest in this fixture, but Holy Stars prevented them from covering the game.

Kennedy Boakye Ansah, the Brands Manager of Nations FC, has disclosed the reason why the club decided to abandon the game, even though they were still going to remain on top of the table with a defeat.

“They told us that either we lose the game or they kill somebody today, and that’s why we asked our supporters to walk out of the stadium.” Boakye Ansah told 3Sports.

Ghana football is still in trouble due to the authorities of football clubs and their fans constantly harassing and cheating their opponents.

Nations FC are planning to withdraw from the league, with Dr Kwame Kyei hinting that he will no longer invest his money in Ghanaian football.

The GFA is yet to release an official statement about what happened on Sunday afternoon when Holy Stars faced Nations FC.
