Asante Kotoko presented the MTN FA Cup trophy to the patron of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Wednesday, and surprisingly met the former Board Chairman of the club, Herbet Mensah, who had visited Manhyia Palace for a discussion with the great King.
Opemsou ordered Herbet Mensah to address Kotoko’s entourage, where he reminded them of the colours they are always wearing.
In a Facebook post, Herbet wrote,

OTUMFUO
A relationship that only gets stronger. A relationship borne out of respect, trust, and love!
I visited my Father to discuss gender and diversity issues and provide an update on my business and sporting endeavours.
Nana was in his seat, and I waited for my turn. Many, including Kumasi Asante Kotoko, came to present their newly won FA Cup trophy to him.
To my surprise, Otumfuo called me from where I was seated and asked the team to present and drape the winner’s medal they had brought to me. He then asked me to speak on his behalf. I was humbled and weakened (as they say)
I could only remind the players of what it meant to wear the shirt and what it meant to play for Asante Kotoko. I also got to remind management and custodians to remember that their job was to build a sustainable, winning, self-financing giant football team feared by all!
I have done my bit for this great club and usually only speak publicly about it when asked to do so by Otumfuo!
Many Porcupine Warriors’ fans have been calling for Herbet to lead the club once again, as his leadership sent the club to the upper echelon of African football.
Asante Kotoko defeated Golden Kick 2-1 in the finals of the MTN FA Cup, with Kwame Poku scoring a brace for the club.
