Asante Kotoko’s preparations for the 2025-26 season got underway so fast after they finished the 2024-25 season.
The club started by releasing five players from the squad. The list was a bit shocking as no one expected the team’s skipper, Justice Blay, to be part.
Many fans have wanted to know the reason why Chief Justice Blay was released, and a high-ranking Asante Kotoko official has anonymously revealed to Kessben FM’s sports show why Justice Blay’s contract was not renewed.
“For Blay, it was Coach Ogum, who pleaded on his behalf last season. He [Justice Blay] was part of the indisciplined players sacked. It’s Coach Ogum’s intervention but he has still not stopped his act of indiscipline and revolt in the club.
“He [Justice Blay] is a long-serving player; one can not put out his character in camp. The club can not tolerate his drunkenness anymore.
“Management has sat him down severally but he is not ready to change. He [Justice Blay] moves out of the house in his own accord.
“Blay is a bad influence in the team and no team will tolerate such indiscipline,” he said.
Asante Kotoko, over the years, has battled indiscipline and is yet to finally achieve its goal.
Indiscipline is the ultimate destròyer in every institution and the Porcupine Warriors are ready to finally eradicate it by using Blay as an example.
Asante Kotoko finished third in the just-ended Ghana Premier League but lifted the MTN FA Cup after a 2-1 win over Access Bank Division One League side Golden Kick which has subsequently earned them a slot in the 2025-26 CAF Confederation Cup.
