Every success of a nation depends on many things, including respect, compassion, togetherness, unity, and peace, among others. This is the message His Excellency President Mahama preached during the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving on July 1st in Accra.
Today we have prayed and I believe that God will heal our land… Indeed, he has already begun to heal our land, and we thank him for his blessings”, the president said. John Dramani expressed his optimism in God that he will listen to the prayers of Ghanaians and suggested that he has already been doing good things for the nation.
The president stressed tribalism, which is gradually gaining roots in the Ghanaian media space.
“Let us remain vigilant against the voices of tribalism, the voices of religious extremism and against the poison of political division.”
“We must speak a language of peace, compassion, and mutual respect. We must build bridges, not barriers, for we are one people sharing one land and pursuing one identity and destiny,” he concluded.
Social Media has become an avenue where Ghanaian Youth have been exhibiting a lack of respect and unity towards each other. Tribalism, which can cause damage to the nation, is getting out of control as people disrespect their fellow Ghanaians because of their tribes.
The president urged Ghanaians to watch how they relate to each other, especially when it comes to tribal issues.
