Ghanaian striker Jonathan Sowah has confirmed that Tanzania has offered him the opportunity to switch nationality from Ghana to Tanzania.

The 25-year-old former Medeama SC and Al-Nasr striker, who currently plays for Tanzanian side Singida Black Stars, has been sensational since joining the Tanzanian Lig Kuu Bara in January 2025.

In an interview on Asempa FM, the forward said, “I have been approached by Tanzania to switch nationality – Jonathan Sowah, Black Stars striker.

Sowah confirmed that he rejected their approach because he wanted to represent Ghana and make the country happy.

The striker was part of Chrish Houghton’s squad for Ghana in the 2023 AFCON but did not make a single appearance. He has since then not received any call-up from Ghana and might be tempted to play for Tanzania.

The Taifa Stars will compete in the upcoming 2025 AFCON to be played across December 2025 and January 2026 in Morocco. The competition could serve as the bait to lure
