A confrontation between students from Dabokpa Technical Institute and Vittin Technical Senior High School in Tamale has resulted in multiple injuries, and the police are currently looking into the matter.
Northern Regional Minister Adolf John Ali announced that five students were injured during the altercation. The police, represented by Chief Inspector Lukman Neindow, confirmed that only one student from Dabokpa Tech was officially transported to the hospital with injuries.
The conflict began at approximately 2:30 a.m. On July 19, students were observed throwing stones at one another, which resulted in damage to school property, including sections of Vittin’s fence wall. Officers were quickly sent to the location to manage the situation, and order has now been reestablished.
A police presence has been maintained around the clock between the two neighbouring schools to help prevent further violence. An inspection of the dormitories revealed hazardous items, including machetes and scissors, but no arrests have been made. Officials are currently examining video recordings, and the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has convened to evaluate the situation and determine further actions.
