England were on the brink of exit in the semi-final of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 after falling to Italy’s first-half goal by Barbara Bonansea in the 33rd minute.

England’s second-half dominance nearly went in vain, but Michelle Agyeman had her plans to break Italy’s heart. The 19-year-old Arsenal forward has been making an unbelievable impact anytime he gets into the game in the second half. The youngster replaced Arsenal defender Leah Williamson with just five minutes to end the 90 minutes. Agyemang’s presence rattled the Italians’ defence, especially the centre-back pairing of Linari, Salvai and Lenzini. Her physical presence, her aggression and pace were what the Three Lionesses needed at that crucial moment.

Into the sixth minute of the additional seven minutes played, Agyemang drilled home the equaliser to shock the Italians. Moments later, her wonderful effort hit the bar, much to the delight of Italy. England went ahead and snatched a late winner through Chloe Kelly.

The teenager has been trending across all social media platforms because of her performances. After the game, England manageress Weigman was questioned whether to start the youngster in the finals or not.

“She brings something special and she has something special,” Wiegman said. “She’s only 19 years old, she’s very mature, she knows exactly what she has to do,” she added.

Agyemang’s inclusion in the England squad was great news for the youngster’s development, and it also ended Ghana’s pursuit of her because her parents are from the West African nation. Her presence has turned out to be a blessing for England as they await the winner between Spain and Germany for a slot in the finals.
