A 29-year-old Koforidua-based mobile phone dealer, Daniel Omane, has died from an acid attack by his girlfriend, Vera Akosua Asare.
A 29-year-old Koforidua-based mobile phone dealer, Daniel Omane, has died from an acid attack by his girlfriend, Vera Akosua Asare.
Vera had moved from her mother’s house to cohabitate with Daniel after giving birth to their baby girl, who is now two years old.
According to reports, the lovers began to have frequent misunderstandings as Vera accused her boyfriend on suspicion that he was flirting with other girls.
Daniel was then forced to end the relationship due to the growing tension that was straining their relationship.
Unhappy about the decision, while Daniel was sleeping, Vera sneaked into the room and poured acid on him.
Daniel’s neighbours, who heard him scream, rushed out to the scene only to find Vera attempting to flee after committing the act.
They accosted her and handed her to the Police while others rushed Daniel to the Eastern Regional Hospital and later to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
Vera was, however, granted bail to take care of their baby, but Daniel passed on, leading to the re-arrest of Vera for fresh charges to be pressed against her. What at all could be wrong with Vera?
