Salifu Nkonya Nurudeen, a 19-year-old student of the University for Development Studies (UDS), has been sentenced to life imprisonment for stabbing his colleague over a girl.

According to reports, in September 2024, Nkonya Nurudeen stabbed his colleague Wumpini Mohammed Zakiu over a dispute involving a lady.

It is reported that Zakiu was stabbed in the chest during an altercation with the convict, and his lifeless body was later found on campus.

A High Court in Tamale found Nkonya, a Level 100 Computer Science student, guilty of murder and conspiracy to murder in connection with the death of Zakiu.

Delivering his sentence, the presiding judge said that despite Nkonya’s age, he was jailed for life because his action was in bad faith and caused the loss of a life.
