The family of the late Ghanaian music icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has formally notified government of his passing and announced arrangements for the upcoming one-week observation ceremony.
On Monday, August 25, 2025, a delegation comprising the Ekuona Royal Family of Parkoso, the Fosuh Family, and members of the funeral planning committee paid a courtesy visit to the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, at the Jubilee House.
The delegation was received on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, in line with Ghanaian tradition, which requires bereaved families to inform government when a national figure of Daddy Lumba’s stature passes away.
The meeting also served to brief government on the one-week commemoration, which has been scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Complex, Legon
Discussions further touched on possible state support to ensure a befitting farewell for the man widely regarded as one of the greatest musicians.

Daddy Lumba passed away on July 26, 2025, at The Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra, at the age of 60.
His death sent shockwaves across the country, with tributes pouring in from political leaders, industry stakeholders, musicians, and millions of fans.
