World Athletics Championships: Ghana finish 4th in 4x100m finals as USA win gold

Ghana’s quartet of Ibrahim Fuseini, Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah and Rasheed Saminu finished fourth in the finals of the 4x100m in the 2025 World Athletics Championships.

The Ghanaians finished with a time of 37.93 seconds, behind the Netherlands team, which set a national record with a time of 37.81 seconds. The Dutch team was led by 27-year-old Elvis Afrifa, who powered past Ghana’s Saminu to help win bronze for the Europeans.

USA’s world-class team of Christian Coleman, Keneth Bednarek, Courtney Lindsey and the imperious Noah Lyles finished first with 37.29 seconds, which is the best time of the event (4x100m) in the entire 2025.

Canada, led by Andre De Grasse as expected, finished second with Brown, Blake, and Rodney combining to set a seasonal best time of 37.55, which helped the North Americans win silver.

Germany finished 5th with Julian Wagner, Marvin Schlute, Owen Ansah and Lucas Ansah-Peprah performing below the expected level. The team clocked 38.35 seconds which was not enough per their loftus standards.

Host nation Japan finished 6th with a time of 38.58 seconds, much to the disappointment of the supporters who at least had expected the quartet of Koike, Yanagita, Kiryu and Uzawa to dazzle and give them a last joy.

France finished 7th ahead of Australia, whose team of Bond, Despard, Law and Browning did not finish. The French team of Zeze, Erius, Chanteur and Priam felt very disappointed with the shambolic performances where they clocked 38.58 seconds.
