Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbeumo finally joined Manchester United after almost two months of negotiations between Manchester United and Brentford.
The 26-year-old Avallon-born is set to return to his old stomping grounds, where he spent a successful six years with Brentford in London.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim praised the qualities the Cameroonian brings on board.
“It’s really important that everything he brings. He is always there to help us, he runs a lot, and he presses a lot. He is a different threat than last season. He takes set pieces. So I am really happy with him.
“That is also the good thing, to have time to get to know the player. It was important to bring players from our league so you can understand what they bring. But in the end, you never know, so we were lucky with Bryan.
“You can see that every player you want to buy in the Premier League is expensive, so if you look at our moments last year, you want to take the less risky move, and it’s really important to have quality players”, Amorim added.
Brentford manager Keith Andrews on Bryan Mbeumo’s return to Brentford Community Stadium
“I think Bryan should get a really good reception from the fans.
“He epitomises everything good about this football club: he had six years at this club, arriving as a 19-year-old, he spoke very little English, and he developed as a man and as a person, with time, patience and support.
“Last season was the culmination of a six-year journey, which so many people at the club played a part in. I know he appreciates that and the fans.
“However, I don’t want us to give him a good reception on the pitch! We know all about him, his qualities, and what a good player he is, so hopefully we nullify those and make it an afternoon he doesn’t enjoy”, Andrews said.
