Before Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus finalised his transfer to Tottenham this summer, he was the focus of a strong interest from Chelsea.
The Blues made a strong effort to sign the Ghana international, actively working to bring the attacking midfielder to Stamford Bridge, but ultimately failed.
After two strong seasons at West Ham United, where he signed from Ajax Amsterdam in a deal worth € 46 million, the forward, who could play across all the forward positions, became a hot commodity for some of the English top clubs.
Kudus received significant interest from Chelsea.
Chelsea moved forward in discussions to agree on personal terms with the player, but ultimately did not finalise the transfer.
Reports from The Athletic indicate that West Ham officially rejected Chelsea’s final offer of €46 million along with midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, because the offer was too low and they were not interested in the player.
The negotiation failed despite Chelsea’s attempts to complete the deal before the Club World Cup, allowing Tottenham to sign him.
Mohammed Kudus has been playing well since joining Thomas Frank’s side, where the club has improved from their abysmal show.
