Asante Kotoko’s clash against Wydad Athletic Club of Morocco is one of the toughest fixtures in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup final play-off.

The Porcupine Warriors eliminated Nigerian side Kwara United in the preliminary stage to set up the tie against the Moroccan giants.

Preparations for the game are underway with the Moroccans expected in the country on Friday ahead of Sunday’s clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Life patron of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Otumfoc Osei Tutu II club, has injected a whopping 150k dollars to aid the club in preparations for Wydad Club.

Ghanaian clubs have been facing financial issues in CAF-organised competitions recently, and Opemsoc’s money is expected to help elevate the club.

Asante Kotoko and Wydad of Morocco met in the finals of the 2002 CAF Winners Cup, where the Moroccans won on away goal rule after a 2-2 draw on aggregate.

Revenge has been on the mind of the Porcupine family, and could this be the time?

Asante Kotoko have failed to replicate their 1980s and 1990s performances and must work hard to stand any chance of eliminating the North Africans.

The Accra Sports Stadium will host the first leg on Sunday, 19th October, with the second leg scheduled to be played in Morocco the following weekend.
