With the festive season fast approaching, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has launched an expansive visibility campaign across Accra aimed at positioning the capital as the ultimate December destination for both local and international visitors.

The initiative, which comes just days before the start of the month-long “December in GH” celebrations, underscores the government’s ongoing strategy to leverage tourism as a driver of national development and international branding.

The GTA’s campaign, themed around the “Black Star Experience,” features dramatic installations of telescopic flags, strategically placed billboards, and high-visibility displays along major transport routes and commercial zones.

By saturating the city with festive messaging, the authority hopes to ensure that the December celebrations are impossible to ignore, both for residents and travelers arriving in Ghana.

Strategic Deployment

Key locations targeted by the visibility drive include the Airport Roundabout and the approach to the Airport Police Station, institutional corridors such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and major hospitality zones including Lancaster Hotel, La Palm Royal Hotel, and Laboma Beach Road.

These placements are part of a carefully orchestrated plan to reach a broad audience that includes domestic commuters, international tourists, and members of the Ghanaian diaspora.

GTA Chief Executive Officer Maame Efua Houdjeto emphasized the dual objectives of the campaign: promoting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage while building anticipation for a packed calendar of events.

“This extensive rollout not only reflects GTA’s commitment to promoting tourism and local culture but also serves as a prelude to a December filled with music, heritage, and unforgettable experiences,” she stated.

A Festival with Global Reach

The “December in GH” program has, over the years, become a key fixture in Ghana’s cultural and tourism calendar, designed to appeal to the diaspora, global youth, and international travelers.

This year’s schedule includes music festivals, cultural tours to historical landmarks such as the Cape Coast and Elmina Castles, and pan-African dialogue sessions, all aimed at showcasing Ghana as a vibrant cultural hub.
