Kwesi Appiah has signed a new three-year contract to remain head coach of Sudan’s national football team, extending his tenure until 2028.

The renewal comes after his impressive work since taking charge in September 2023, where he guided the Falcons of Jediane back to the Africa Cup of Nations stage for 2025.

Kwesi Appiah’s extension was confirmed by the Sudanese Football Association following successful negotiations in Khartoum.

The deal reflects confidence in his leadership and vision, as he has overseen a revival of Sudanese football, instilling discipline and tactical organisation into the squad.

His coaching staff, including assistant Ignatius Osei-Fosu, will continue to support this long-term project aimed at building a competitive team for continental and global tournaments.

Under Appiah’s guidance, Sudan achieved a significant milestone by qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, marking their return to the competition after years of absence.

This achievement was seen as a turning point for Sudanese football, with fans and officials praising his ability to blend local talent with international standards.

The renewal ensures continuity as Sudan prepares for both AFCON and the upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

For Appiah, this contract represents another chapter in his distinguished coaching career.

Known for being the first Ghanaian coach to lead the Black Stars to a FIFA World Cup in 2014, he now has the opportunity to cement his legacy in Sudanese football.

His renewed mandate is not only about winning matches but also about building a sustainable football culture in Sudan, one that can inspire future generations and elevate the Falcons of Jediane on the African stage.

Kwesi Appiah will be in full confidence after successfully negotiating a new deal in the 2025 AFCON, where his side will meet Algeria, Equatorial Guinea and Burkina Faso in Group E.
