AFCON 2025: Sami Trabelsi names 28-man list for Tunisia

Tunisia head coach Sami Trabelsi has named his final 28-man squad for the 2025 AFCON to be played in nearby Morocco. The Eagles of Carthage squad is a mixture of youth and experience, with nine of the players plying their trade in the Tunisian domestic topflight.

Esperance de Tunis’ number one goalkeeper, Bechir Ben Said, will lead the goalkeeping department, with the other three all playing in the domestic league.

Veteran left back Ali Maaloul of CS Sfaxien, Yassine Meriah and Mohamed Ben Ali of Esperance and Sheffield Wednesday’s Yan Valery are part of Trabelsi’s defence.

Former Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, who currently plays for Burnley, Ferjani Sassi of Al Gharafa, and playmaker Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane of Al Ahly Cairo, headline Tunisia’s midfield.

Zamalek’s Seifeddine Jaziri, Elias Achouri of Copenhagen and Augsburg’s Elias Saad are part of the attack.

Tunisia will open their campaign with a fixture against Uganda, followed by games against Nigeria and Tanzania in Group C of the tournament
