Gideon Doe Adifu, a 40-year-old fashion designer from Agbedrafor in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region, has received a 15-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting and impregnating his 14-year-old daughter.
He reportedly received a 10-year sentence for defilement and a 5-year sentence for incest, with both sentences being served at the same time.
The convict reportedly lived with the victim and his wife in Akatsi Kpotame, and he has been accused of sexually abusing his daughter since 2022.
The complainant, who is the father, and his wife reportedly discovered that their daughter was pregnant. After questioning her, the victim shared her experience, which led to the arrest of the suspect.
A medical examination report indicated that the individual had experienced sexual abuse and was 17 weeks pregnant. A police report stated that in 2024, the family moved to Kpotame-Akatsi, where the convicted individual continued to engage in sexual relations with his daughter when other family members were absent.
He acknowledged that he committed the crime and entered a plea of guilty to the charges of defilement and incest.
