Gareth Southgate has admitted he’s likely to step down as England manager if they fail to win Euro 2024. The 53-year-old Watford-born has been the head coach of England since 2016 after Big Sam Allardyce resigned.

Many believe his tenure has been great whilst others think he should have at least won something for the Three Lions considering the talent at his disposal.

After a 4th place and quarter-finals finish in the 2018 and 2022 World Cups with Euro 2020 finals between the two, Southgate is at his fourth major tournament which kicks off on Friday 14th June.

The head coach has admitted he needs to win the trophy to have any chance of continuing his stay as the boss of England.

“If we don’t win, I probably won’t be here anymore. Then it might be the last chance. I have been here for almost eight years now and we have come close,” said Southgate.

England is considered among the favourites to lift Euro 2024, per the bookmakers. With Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Kyle Walker and Trent Alexander Arnold among many other talented players in the team, the Three Lions have no excuse to fail once again.

England is in Group C alongside Serbia, Slovenia and Denmark and will open their campaign with a fixture against Serbia on Sunday night at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen.
