The debate on whether the operations by aboboyaa riders are lawful or unlawful has been in the media for a very long time.

No doubt about how helpful their operations are to Ghanaians. However, their operations have more disadvantages than advantages to the people and the nation as a whole.

On the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, February 10, Abraham Amaliba, the Director General of the National Road Safety Authority, revealed that all the operations of Aboboyaa in Ghana are unlawful.

“For now, because they have not yet come into full stream and they have not been legalised, my institution does not regulate them yet. It is about enforcement.

“We have not yet set out what they will be doing. We are yet to determine what they can carry and what type of goods they can carry on their buckets. It is allowed under the law to effect citizen arrest and hand them over to the police immediately if they are seen breaking the law,” Amaliba added.

Aboboyaa riders have been so careless on our roads, leading to many fatal accidents.
