The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has successfully evacuated three Ghanaian traders who sustained injuries during a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, February 18, the GAF said the evacuation formed part of a coordinated humanitarian and security response by the Government of Ghana to protect the lives and welfare of its citizens affected by the incident.
The airlift operation was executed on Tuesday, February 17, by the Ghana Air Force, which transported the injured traders back to Accra for urgent medical care.
Upon arrival, the victims were immediately conveyed to the 37 Military Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment and undergoing further medical evaluation.
According to the statement, the operation was the result of close collaboration among several state institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ghana Armed Forces.
The inter-agency coordination ensured a swift, secure, and seamless evacuation despite the volatile security situation in the affected area.
The GAF also expressed deep sympathy to the families of Ghanaian traders who lost their lives in the attack, describing the incident as a tragic loss to the nation.
“The Ghana Armed Forces extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved families, prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased, and wishes the injured a speedy recovery,” the statement said.
Authorities say the government continues to monitor developments in the region and is working through diplomatic and security channels to safeguard Ghanaian nationals conducting legitimate business in neighbouring countries.
