Tunisia have parted ways with head coach Sabri Lamouchi following their crushing 5-1 defeat to Sweden on Sunday night.

The result, which exposed glaring defensive frailties and a lack of cohesion in midfield, proved to be the final straw for the Tunisian Football Federation.

Lamouchi, 54, who took charge of the Carthage Eagles after the poor performance at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, had been under mounting pressure following a string of inconsistent results.

Two goals from Yasin Ayari and a goal each from Viktor Gyokeres, Aleksandar Isak and Mattias Svanberg condemned the North Africans to an embarrassing defeat in Monterrey at the Estadio BBVA.

Attention now turns to who will replace Lamouchi, as Tunisia seek a coach capable of restoring confidence and discipline ahead of their next two games against Japan and the Netherlands.

The federation is expected to appoint an interim manager while exploring long-term options, with an emphasis on international experience.
