2024 CAF Super Cup: Saudi Arabia to host Al Ahly v Zamalek

King Fahd Sports City located in Al Hawiyah in Saudi Arabia hosted the 2023 CAF Super Cup between CAF Champions League winners Al Ahly and Confederation Cup winners USM Alger. The Algerians won 1-0 against the Red Devils and subsequently lifted the trophy for the first time since its inceptionin 1993.

The 2024 edition of the CAF Super Cup will be hosted by Saudi Arabia but at the Kingdom Arena in Riyad.

It will be the 5th time in 6 years that the finals will be played outside Africa. Qatar has hosted 3 of the five with Saudi set to host its second in succesion.

Al Ahly are the undisputed kings of the CAF Super Cup after winning it eight times. Second on the list is Zamalek who are four times winners, the arch rivals of Al Ahly.

Zamalek last won it in 2020 after beaten Esperance Sportive de Tunis 3-1 in Doha while Al Ahly won 6-5 on penalties in 2021 against Raja Casablanca after drawing 1-1 in regulation time.

Al Ahly won 1-0 on aggregate in the finals of the CAF Champions League against Esperance. Zamalek on the other hand beat Moroccan side Berkane via away goal rule after 2-2 draw on aggregate.

The game is scheduled to take place on 27th September 2024.
