SSC Napoli club director Giovanni Manna has confirmed that Victor Osimhen has requested to leave the Italian Serie A giants.

The English Premier League team, Chelsea FC, is rumored to be keeping an eye on the Nigerian sensation in an attempt to bolster their attack.

Osimhen’s contract with Napoli was extended until 2026 in December 2023, with a new €130 million release clause.

With just two seasons left on his contract, Napoli wants to sell the Nigerian and invest in their number one target Romelu Lukaku who will cost around €40m.

“Victor Osimhen has asked to leave the club,” Manna said in the London Evening Standard.

“He wants to go. The situation is clear, there were already chances for his exit last summer. Victor wants to leave. We will see in the next 20 days.”

Victor Osimhen in July 2022 signed from French side LOSC Lille for a club-record fee of €70 million potentially rising to €80 million with add-ons, making him the most expensive African transfer to date.

The current African Footballer of the Year helped Napoli end more than a three decade wait for the Italian Serie A title in 2022-23 season.

French Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) are also keen admirers of the 25-year-old striker.
