Defending champions Al Ahly was expected to smoothly qualify and they expertly did so. Esperance, last season’s runner up also had a smooth route to the money zone.
Recent regulars in the Money Zone; Sundowns, TP Mazembe and Al Hilal all booked their tickests for the draw.
7 teams from North Africa are in the final 16 proving their dominance once again.
TP Mazembe and Maniema both qualified and are set to represent the Central African zone.
Djoliba of Mali and Stade Abidjan are the only two teams from WAFU while Sundowns, Orlando Pirates and Sagrada are representing COSAFA.
Young Africans and Al Hilal Oumdurman from the CECAFA region will take part in the draw.
