Asante Kotoko narrowly pipped Nsoatreman 1-0 at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium to move second on the table on Wednesday afternoon.
Nsoatreman was suffocated by fantastic Fabulous as they had no antidote to the intensity Prosper Ogum’s men showed.
Kotoko’s first half performance was impressive after enjoying 58% possesion and 13 goal attempts of which 4 were on target. It shows how dominat Asante Kotoko was as compared to Nsoatreman who only sat back. The away side did not have a single goal attempt before the end of the first half.
The second half got off to another tough start for the away team with Asante Kotoko taking the lead in just two minutes of action. Emmanuel Kyei Baffuor’s goal was the difference. Nsoatreman after conceding improved massively but it was too late for Yaw Prekoh’s side.
The win for Asante Kotoko is so important for their title challenge because Medeama will pose a huge threat amd have also started well.
Samartex in the Western Region derby against Bibiani Gold Stars drew 1-1 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena in Samraboi.
Emmanuel Mamah put the home team ahead in front in the 21st minute. The defending champions could not protect their lead as Gold Stars struck in the 80th minute through Kelvin Oppong to silence the home crowd.
Bibiani Gold Stars wil be very happy with the point they secured in Samraboi because it’s one of the two most fearful venues in the GPL.
